Through the course of history ranging from 1900 to 1919, the event chosen for this research assignment that happened outside of the United States during this period was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 28, 1914, after their vehicle turn the wrong direction and later shot by Gavrilo Princip, who associated himself with Serbian nationalists, acted on the response of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s independence from Austro-Hungarian’s authority leading to the initiation of World War 1. Additionally, it took place on Vidovdan, a Serbian religious, national holiday, which many Serbian people hold sacred as it is connected to several important occasions to add context. The event of the assassination taking place during a national holiday played a vital role in altering history as a result of the reaction toward Austro-Hungarian's power over the Serbian people, and by looking at the versions told on a social media platform in comparison to a newspaper could help comprehend how it was perceived with the pros and cons of each account perspective about it.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
