The topic for which I will be presenting my research methodology (simplistic as it is) is the Battle of Leuctra, which was fought in 371 BCE between the armies of Thebes and Sparta, two of the most dominant land-based military powers in all of ancient Greece. The battle saw the defeat of the Spartans, and represented the final nail in the coffin of Spartan hegemony in Greece. I did not choose this topic on a whim; this assignment happily coincides with a term paper which I am currently researching, so it felt only natural to make that the focus of this assignment.Thankfully, the Battle of Leuctra is a well-sourced event, with no less than four surviving ancient accounts. Xenophon, Diodoros of Sicily, Pausanias, and Plutarch each provide us with descriptions of the battle itself, its historical context, and its aftermath.

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
