The Andersonville Irish ProjectOver the last number of years The Andersonville Irish Project has been working to identify Irish Americans who perished at the notorious Prisoner of War Camp between 1864 and 1865. The Project has now gathered details on well over 1,000 men, capturing data points such as where they were associated with in Ireland (you can explore the interactive map here), how old they were, what their occupations were, and what impact their death had on their families. We have also been recording where these men were captured. So far, this has revealed 15 Irish Americans who were captured during the Union&apos;s most famous victory of the Civil War, the three-day July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Through the medium of a tour of these men&apos;s regimental monuments on the field at Gettysburg, this StoryMap tells something of their stories.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Try changing the paragraph font, and see what happens to this text.
