Exposition: Cooper and his daughter Murphy discover a dust storm at a sports game and seal their windows to prevent it from entering. They discover a pattern on a room floor and find an underground NASA base. Professor Brand, Cooper's old colleague, tells them about NASA's plan to find a new planet. Cooper agrees to join the crew, travelling for two years to reach the wormhole and then entering a different galaxy.

Rising action: Cooper, Dr. Amelia, and Dr. Doyle explore a sea planet, but their ship gets hit by a wave, killing Dr. Doyle. They return to their spaceship and encounter Dr. Romilly, who has aged 23 years. Dr. Mann suggests exploring the Ice planet, but he kills some crew members after discovering Professor Brand's lies. He then kills Cooper, but ultimately kills himself.

Climax: Dr. Amelia saves Cooper from dying on the planet and they decide to go to the last planet to check if it's inhabitable. Cooper enters a shuttle and tells Amelia about the lack of fuel. She tries to stop him but is dragged into the atmosphere. Cooper falls into a blackhole, sees a light, and finds his house on the other side.

Falling Action: Cooper encounters his family from a different time and uses the dust storm to communicate with them. Murphy and Cooper understand, explaining Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Cooper falls into a blackhole, blacks out, and wakes up to find Saturn nearby, realising he's saving mankind.

There are many dust storms that are constantly ravaging the country and causing people to suffocate. The dust storms also don’t let any crops grow except corn. He gets a binary code through dust patterns in his daughter’s room. This allowed him to locate a NASA facility that is searching for planets that are suitable for human habitation. Twelve astronauts are dispatched to other worlds to gather information for a future crew. Chief of operations John Brand seeks to evacuate Earth's last humanity by launching colonies into space and using 5000 frozen human embryos. Cooper and Dr. Amelia Brand face danger on Miller's inhabitable ocean planet, while Doyle dies. They must choose between Edmund's and Mann's planets. After John Brand dies, he tells everyone the formula can't be finished. Mann is killed, and Cooper travels to the 4th dimension to send Murphy a message to solve the formula, saving humanity.
