Penicillin was the first true antibiotic, later used to treat bacterial infections and revolutionize medicine, created by Alexander Fleming in the United Kingdom. This accident happened in the month of September in 1928. The mold was later classified as Penicillium notatum. Fleming supposed that it produced a substance that could kill bacteria, which he named “penicillin.” It then took many many years to recreate exactly what happened in that petri dish even after he published his work about it. However, because World War II started escalating, the demand for an effective antibacterial treatment became urgent due to high infection rates in injured soldiers, so it began to be mass produced and more widely used.

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
