Haiti and Japan are two very different countries with lots of problems and today I will be answering the question ‘Is Haiti more vulnerable than Japan?’ At the minute both countries are going through a population crisis. Haiti has a vastly growing and young population while Japan has a fastly declining population that is aging very fast. In 1970, Haiti's population lay at just four million, in 2020 it had just reached 13 million. That‘s over 9 million people in just 50 years! However, Japan's population was over 100 million in 1970 and is currently just over 126 million. Although it seems like a big difference, the birthrate in 1970 was 2.070 however in 2020 it is at just 1.34. Although this may not seem like a big difference, it means that while Japan has a big population, it has a very old population as you can see in the graph below.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
