I learned a lot from the three testimonies I chose to read. The first testimony I read was “Narrative of Margaret Ward and Infant Son, Samuel Ringold Ward”. I was able to gather three locations that Margaret had traveled to while being a slave. She grew up on the eastern shore of Chesapeake in the state of Maryland. She later went to Philadelphia and then went to New York where she became a celebrated nurse. Her son Samuel grew to be a great man and speaker. The second testimony I read was, “Narrative of Samuel Green, Jr”. Samuel left Indian Creek, Chester County Maryland, where he was held to service or labor. He ended up in Canada and loved it. He went to Philadephia where he left his mom, father, and sister. His father ended up going to Canada to look for his son who was found doing well. Lastly, the last testimony is the “Narrative of Fredrick Douglass”. This one took us from the south of Mason and Dixon’s line, and north to New Orleans ending by crossing the Susquehanna and taking him to New York. These testimonies all had unique stories that illustrated what it was like seeing the different perspectives during the time.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Try changing the paragraph font, and see what happens to this text.

Quotes use the theme’s title font, but you can also choose one of several different styling options.

Your theme’s accent color is used in both quotes (see above) and separators (below). If you add an express map to your story, your drawn features will use the accent color too.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
