Luca della Robbia was born at the turn of the century in 1400 Florence, Italy to Simone della Robbia and Margarita in the family home. Luca’s father Simone was member of the Arte della Lana, in English would be the wool-workers guild that was based out of Florence. Luca was the youngest of three children with 2 older brothers Giovanni and Marco. Luca della Robbia was educated until he could read and write but also learnt to cast accounts which is basic book keeping. After learning how to read write and cast accounts, Luca’s father wanted him to learn the art of gold smith which was a common base for artists of the time. Gold smithing gave Luca confidence and the ability to draw and model in wax which would lead him to attempting works that were made of marble or bronze. Luca’s success with marble and bronze would lead to him working on commissions for the Catholic church and many other wealth patrons. Luca della Robbia is mostly known for his development of a unique technique called glazed terracotta. Luca would end up being very secretive about the technique and recipe only teaching close family members. By keeping the technique and recipe in the family he was able to build upon a rich artistic culture in Florence with his family name carrying on for decades. Luca would die in 1482 in his studio/home in Florence.

To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. After one year, you will need to purchase an ArcGIS Online subscription to continue using ArcGIS StoryMaps. Check out the StoryMaps <link>retirement page</link> for more information on the ArcGIS Online subscription options.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
