Music is often described as an art form that brings people together to create and listen. While this might be true for performances and ensemble rehearsals, an often forgotten aspect of music-making is the practice behind it. Musicians put in hours of work every week or even every day to refine their craft and prepare themselves for upcoming performances. The musician’s experience on a college campus can quickly begin to mirror their academic experience, as music becomes filled with deadlines and goals to accomplish within a (usually short) time frame. At St. Olaf, the college’s top ensembles typically have a performance cycle of between 1-2 months to prepare all the music for a performance, but it can be as short as two weeks. In private lessons, which are required for all members of the college’s top ensembles, students have just one week to prepare lesson materials to be heard and critiqued by their private instructors. These two facets of music-making combine to create a culture of goal-oriented music making. In my argument and presentation of photos, I will argue that this culture of accomplishment in the music world at St. Olaf has hurt musicians (or at least me) more than it has helped them.

To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
