Background History Ritz Crackers were introduced in 1934 during the peak of the Great Depression. Pre-Ritz Crackers era, crackers were considered a very easy and cheap way to feed people since the carbs kept you full. When Nabisco began brainstorming names for the upcoming product, designer Sydney Stern took the name &quot;Ritz&quot; inspired by the luxurious hotel chain &quot;Ritz-Carlton.&quot; Stern believed that capitalizing off of the hotel empire&apos;s opulent reputation would persuade consumers to believe that the crackers were fancy and buy them. Nabisco advertised the crackers using pictures of golfers being served platters of Ritzs at their country clubs and parties of affluent people using the crackers to make small charcuterie boards. Furthermore, a box of Ritz cost about 19 cents in 1934, which is equivalent to $4.41 today. To put that into perspective, you could buy a nice steak dinner with just over a dollar in the 1930s. Today it would cost at least $50.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Try changing the paragraph font, and see what happens to this text.

Your theme’s accent color is used in both quotes (see above) and separators (below). If you add an express map to your story, your drawn features will use the accent color too.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
