After meeting with Professor Levy during office hours, my project became much clearer. Her biggest advice was to make it personal, which got me thinking, what is something that affects my life and my family’s? Obviously, there are countless things I can talk about. But one innovation stood out to me, and it was the invention of airplanes. It might seem random at first. After all, I do not fly everyday, or every week or even every month. But when reflecting about an invention that changed my life and changed my family&apos;s life, I immediately thought of airplanes. Here is a bit of backstory. Both my dad’s side and mom’s side of the family were originally from South Korea. Now mind you, back in the 20th century, South Korea was a third world country. My parents&apos; families were struggling to get by, and from the stories I heard growing up, they barely had enough to eat. To my family, living in Korea was not feasible anymore as they were struggling financially and eventually decided to immigrate to the United States. Obviously to get to the United States, they had to take an airplane, which is why airplanes are so significant in my family&apos;s life. Airplanes gave them an outlet to look for opportunities elsewhere in the world. In a sense, airplanes symbolize hope for my family and a chance to escape poverty.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Your theme’s accent color is used in both quotes (see above) and separators (below). If you add an express map to your story, your drawn features will use the accent color too.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
