This Storymap is over the layout of The Immortals Game in Masters of Death by Olivie Blake, as well as the way that the layout of the game influences the characters in the novel. The Immortals Game is a game played by immortals where the said immortals try to beat Death, whom is (in this story) represented as a being rather than an essence. The Immortals play for a plethora of different reasons, but they always have to be willing to lose everything in order to gain anything. The goal of the game is to master Death, but also to beat the game itself. The game is played around a non descriptive, plain wooden table. Both opponents face one another and set their hands on the wooden table. They are then transported into a sort of mental limbo where they attempt to best one another by finding dents in their carefully structured exteriors. The reason why most immortals either lose or tie (they never truly win) is because they believe that the humanity left in them is what makes them lose so they attempt to hide it, when in reality, it is humanity at its core that is the only factor that can ever truly master the game.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
