Columbine High School  On April 20th, 1999 the town of Littleton, Colorado would be changed forever. Columbine High School would be faced with a horrific and traumatic event that resulted in the deaths of 12 students, 1 teacher, and left 23 injured. This act of terrorism was carried out by two of Columbine&apos;s students through the use of assault weapons and an attempted bombing. With the suicides of both of the perpetrators following the attack, survivors and the community of Littleton were left with the question “why?” What reasons could cause two adolescent boys to commit such a heinous act against their school? Was it because of music, video games, a desensitized society, mental health, access to firearms, or an unregulated internet? Maybe it was a combination of influences that impacted the beliefs of these two individuals to commit such a calculated act of violence. While Columbine was by no means the first school shooting to occur in the US, it was deemed the one that propelled life at school as we know it today because it was the first event like this to occur that was recorded and televised as the situation was unfolding.

To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
