The Ghana Empire AKA the Kingdom of Ghana, was a large trading empire in West Africa that thrived from the 7th to the 13th century. The empire rose in 830 C.E. and ended in 1235 C.E. During The Ghana Empire&apos;s time, its capital was Koumbi Saleh. The capital of the Ghana Empire, Koumbi Saleh, was a center for administration and trade. The city was found at the edge of the Sahara and grew to become the most important of the Sahara trade routes. The city&apos;s location made it so it was easier for the emperor to tax merchants and have money to support the kingdom. The most influential and popular rulers of the Ghana Empire were Majan-Dyabe Cisse AKA Diara Kante. After nearly 400 years, the empire fell in 1235 C.E. and was turned into part of the Mali Empire, when it was conquered by Arabs from North Africa, led by their Muslim leader, Abu Bakr.

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Try changing the paragraph font, and see what happens to this text.

Quotes use the theme’s title font, but you can also choose one of several different styling options.

Your theme’s accent color is used in both quotes (see above) and separators (below). If you add an express map to your story, your drawn features will use the accent color too.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
