What is this creature in the picture? A seagull? A sparrow? A man in a huge bird costume? It is a piping plover! (Charadrius melodus) — a kind of small shorebird that has been listed as an endangered species for decades. They have a size similar to human hands, which enables them to move flexibly. They have grey and white feathers, a black ring on their breast, and a black bar on their foreheads, which are similar to the color of beach rock. It is a way for them to avoid predators by fading themselves into their surroundings. Both their mouth and their legs are bright orange when they breed, which are used to attract females and adjust hormone, and the color fade into yellow during winter.

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
