This project is a multimedia exploration of the evidence and testimony used in the case filed by CJA and its partners against Moses Thomas, Commander of Liberia's Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SATU) for his role in the Lutheran Church Massacre, in Monrovia, on July 29, 1990. It was one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in Liberia's Civil Wars, claiming at least 600 lives.<ul><li>In September 2021, a US court in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania held Thomas liable for war crimes, crimes against humanity, extrajudicial killing, attempted extrajudicial killing, and torture for his role in the massacre.</li></ul><ul><li>In August 2022, the Philadelphia court&nbsp;<a target='_blank' href='http://cja.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/88.Damages-award-2.pdf' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>&nbsp;issued a historic damages&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;award totaling $84 million to four victims of the Lutheran Church Massacre. </li></ul>

To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look.
