The 20th century marked a period of monumental progress in the fight for women&apos;s rights, with significant political, legal, and social achievements. From early suffrage movements to global feminist movements, women worldwide fought for and gained essential rights. However, despite these victories, gender inequality persists, and women continue to face challenges related to violence, economic disparity, reproductive rights, and political representation. Exploring the evolution of women&apos;s rights movements across the globe, highlighting key moments of progress and the ongoing struggle for true gender equality. The early 20th century saw the birth of organized women&apos;s rights movements focused on suffrage—the right to vote. It was also the start of the first wave of feminism we noticed throughout the 20th century. This movement was pivotal in establishing women&apos;s political voice and challenging the patriarchal belief that women could not participate in democratic processes. In the United States, suffragists like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton led campaigns that culminated in the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, granting women the right to vote. Similarly, in the United Kingdom, figures such as Emmeline Pankhurst led the suffragette movement, which achieved partial success in 1918 and full suffrage by 1928. These early victories were foundational for future feminist struggles because they secured political rights and allowed women to challenge other forms of gender inequality, including those in the workplace, home, and education (Feminism and women&apos;s rights movements - gender matters - www.coe.int 2022).

This story includes several of the pieces you might use in your own story–like paragraphs, buttons, separators, and more. To get started, select a section of the styling panel and make some adjustments. As you adjust different elements, you’ll see this story adjust to demonstrate how they look. Try changing the paragraph font, and see what happens to this text.

Quotes use the theme’s title font, but you can also choose one of several different styling options.

Your theme’s accent color is used in both quotes (see above) and separators (below). If you add an express map to your story, your drawn features will use the accent color too.

ArcGIS <link>StoryMaps</link> is the professional version of StoryMaps and is available as part of <link2>ArcGIS Online</link2>. Both products share similar storytelling capabilities, so if you are familiar with StoryMaps, you'll feel right at home with ArcGIS StoryMaps. If you do not migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you can save any content you would like to keep before the June 30, 2025, retirement date. The options for saving content include saving stories as a PDF and saving frames using a screen recording.

You are invited to migrate your account and content to ArcGIS Online where you can continue storytelling with maps. With ArcGIS Online, you’ll get access to ArcGIS StoryMaps and the easy-to-use story builder you are familiar with, plus so much more!

If you migrate your account to ArcGIS Online, you will have access to your existing stories, collections, and themes via ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as an array of additional ArcGIS capabilities. (Your frames will be migrated and accessible when support for frames is added to ArcGIS StoryMaps.)
